He is a Progressive running for US Congress in Michigan's 12th Congressional District. As a grassroots activist, he founded the Michigan Resistance, which has made tens of thousands of calls to stop bad bills in our state. He's a proud Muslim American and a child of Pakistani immigrants. He grew up in Ann Arbor and is a medical student at the University of Michigan.

COVID-19 Response
The COVID-19 epidemic has further exposed horrible inequity and the inadequacy of our social safety nets. This pandemic has shown us more than ever that we can not prioritize profit over health. Destabilization and Military Intervention
We are not the world's police. The war in Afghanistan has been going on since I was 9 years old. We need to stop invading and destabilizing other countries. Policy brief included.
Family Support
Our society has gotten so stressful. We need policies that will reduce the stress on families. Things like paid sick leave, paid maternal and paternal leave, and universal childcare. Policy brief included.
Anti-Corruption
Zero-tolerance policy for corruption. Nobody is above the law, even the President. Donald Trump needs to be impeached. We can't keep looking away while our government officials obstruct justice and destroy our institutions.
Affordable Housing
Rents are too high. Housing is a human right. As your Congressperson, I will not only fight for affordable rent policies. I will also fight to build abundant, safe and accessibly-priced housing throughout the country. Policy brief included.
Smarter Transportation
No one enjoys traffic. Car insurance rates are way too high. We need to build our cities for people and not for cars. I will advance policies like the Green New Deal that build mass transit and invest in electric vehicles that reduce our reliance on fossil fuel. Policy brief included.
Gender Equality
Pro choice. Men don't know what it's like to be pregnant; they don't get to tell women what to do with their bodies. And how dare a company pay a woman less than a man? That needs to end. Policy brief included.
LGBTQIA+ Ally
Nobody should be forced to feel ashamed of who they are. Members of the LBTGQIA community deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, and they deserve the same rights that all other Americans enjoy. Policy brief included.
Investing in Our Schools
Schools are more segregated now than they were in the 1970s. Inequities in quality of education directly correlate with race and poverty inequities. Teachers' salaries are going down, as costs of their degrees are going up. We must completely transform our education system so every child receives the same level of education, and every teacher is valued. Policy Brief Included.
Labor
We don’t need any more politicians that protect corporate interests over the working class. We must ensure that unions remain strong and vibrant by electing pro-labor individuals to office. Workers’ rights to strike and collectively bargain must be protected. Policy Brief Included.
Economic Justice
A few people in this country own the vast majority of the wealth. We need a wealth tax. Amazon shouldn't pay $0 in taxes. We give out tax breaks to corporations like it's candy. We need to have corporations pay their fair share and roll back corporate tax breaks. Policy brief included.
Supporting People With Disabilities
Our system has failed so many individuals with disabilities. The filing process is clumsy and inefficient, special education programs are underfunded, and our health care infrastructure puts profit over people. Solomon wants to address the specific needs that affect individuals with disabilities. Policy Brief included.
Autonomy for Indigenous People
America has consistently violated the rights, treaties, and autonomy of Indigenous nations. America must take responsibility for the effects of this history. In regards to Indigenous nations, the U.S. government must move away from a relationship of paternalism towards one of partnership. Policy Brief included.
Supporting Senior Citizens
Everyone deserves the right to age with dignity, but our current system is not good enough. As our population continues to get older, we need to move away from 401Ks back to pension plans, adopt a medicare for all system to look after everyone, as well as address regulatory issues in terms of assisted living, elder abuse, and caregiving. Supporting our Veterans
Military service is a way to pay for school, housing, or health care. However, Solomon believes that you should not have to risk your life in order to access resources. We must protect those who want to go into military service, while also providing safety nets for those who decide not to participate. Self Determination for Puerto Rico and Statehood for D.C.
For over 100 years, D.C. and Puerto Rico have been subject to second-class status in our system. Solomon supports statehood for D.C. and Puerto Rico's decision to self-determine their status. Whether the territory chooses statehood, increased autonomy, or independence, the United States government has a responsibility to aid them in their transition. Policy Brief Included.
How Will We Pay for Solomon's Big Plans?
Republicans are never asked how they will pay for increasing the military budget or corporate tax rates. As progressives, we are expected to justify how we will pay for life-saving and essential plans. We only seem to have empty pockets when it comes to health care, education, and the environment. Agriculture and Food
Factory farming has destroyed our health and environment. We must take the power from the monopolies and put it back in the hands of family farmers. We must address climate change in order to protect small farmers from rising temperatures. Instead of subsidizing unhealthy foods, we must reinvigorate our system to support small farmers and encourage consumption of a healthy, varied diet. Policy Brief included.
