According to a report by UNICEF, the United States ranks 32 out of 41 developed countries when it comes to quality education. The reason for this is simple: we are not investing in our public schools. Currently, there is a teacher shortage in this country because so few people are entering the profession due to crushing student debt and the prospect of very low pay. On top of this, teachers are often expected to pay for their own classroom supplies.
Solomon went to public schools for K-12 and supports increasing the funding for our public school system. Solomon supports increasing the funding for students with disabilities so that all students are able to participate fully in our school system. He also sees universal Pre-K as an essential step that allows all children to start off on the right foot for their education (he supports H.R. 4213).
